quarter of a century old; still trying how to learn the essence of being classy while being fabulous. |
And this is why I am scared to get tested for allergies….you get poked a lot!!
I got tested for allergies today! I don’t get my results until Thursday, but as they were writing down my reactions, the nurse looked at me and asked if I have problems with my ears. I told her that I do and she said that that made sense because I have some fungal allergies. I am so excited that the mystery of my crazy ear problems may be solved soon!
Earth and Jupiter from Mars. Amazing!
Narrate Conferences is looking for new volunteer staff. You know, Narrate Conferences who put on Phoenix Rising in New Orleans, Terminus in Chicago, and more recently Sirens in Vail, Colorado where the most awesome Tamora Pierce, Sherwood Smith and Kristin Cashore of ‘Graceling’ fame where Guests of Honor. Well, we’re doing it again! Sirens 2010, the year of fairies, in Vail, only this time with Terri Windling, Marie Brennan and Holly Black as Guests of Honor, and we’re looking for some more awesome volunteer staff.
If you’re interested in being a part of a great team, a fabulous and enriching community, and best of all meet people from different backgrounds, ages, and opinions who have a shared interest, then volunteer! It will not be an experience that you will soon forget; they haven’t been for me. If you’re interested, you can e-mail Narrate (info AT narrateconferences DOT org), or send me a message. If you’re on the fence, come talk to me.
Also, all new staff are invited to Narrate Conferences newest creation: Conference Planning Boot Camp. As Amy Tenbrink says “boot camp will be new and exciting. Really. You will get to hang out and snark with awesome people. And when you’re done, you will know how to plan an event *and* lay the smack down on incompetent hotels *and* allocate team members appropriately *and* create a budget. (Budgets? More exciting than you think!) And I promise you will be done with boot camp in time to work on Sirens 2010. ”
Trust me, laying the smack down on incompetent hotels had been the most enjoyable experience I had to date, especially when they are being idiots and not doing their job. The downside of my real life job is that I know when they are messing up, and I put them in their place. Really, they should just do their job.
So come see me if you have questions or interest. Or, e-mail (info AT narrateconferences DOT org). We’re a great bunch of people!
